‘They’ sent a letter

Yesterday around 10am, when I was awake for a few hours but still in my pj, relaxing in bed, someone knocked on my door. I went downstairs (I live in a first floor maisonette), opened the door and saw a man in his 30s. ‘They sent a letter to me to this address’ he said and I was completely bewildered. My first instinct was to ask who is ‘they’, not because I was that interested but because without this information the sentence didn’t make much sense.

Somehow I managed to realize that I shouldn’t ask about it but I didn’t know what else to say instead so I was just standing there mumbling something unintelligible for at least 30 seconds. Then, finally, I reached out for a letter sticking out of my letter hole and looked at the address. ‘Robert M.’ the man said and in fact it was his name on the envelope.

‘It was only delivered this morning’ I answered cheering. I was very happy that the man didn’t miss it. When I locked the door I realized I was behaving in a strange manner, but this is not unusual for me when I am surprised. That’s autism for you.

I didn’t post for quite some time, this is because I was focused on editing the old posts. Some of them needed deleting. I also realized a while ago that I put unusual effort into creating content for my blog: I do something dramatic or unexpected and then I have somethings to blog about. I had to stop that and taking time away from the blog was the best way to do that.

John’s mum passed away a few days ago and we will be going for the funeral next week. She was only 70. John’s dad is not taking this very well. They were apparently happy together so that must not be very easy for him.

I have been researching UK funeral etiquette and I am surprised to find out it’s best not to bring flowers for the funeral. Black is not my favourite colour but obviously I have smart black trousers and black shoes, I also have graphite smart coat that I bought on sale like 10 years ago and never wore. I may buy a small black handbag and black socks if I don’t find any in my sock box; that will do.
